Single-Photon Sensitive Cameras, Sensors and Modules from Photonics Force

The highest throughput, fastest time-resolved single-photon counting technology on the market. Photon Force offers SPAD array cameras and sensors with the ability to timestamp 500,000,000 photons per second.

The PF32 camera range

Time-Tagging SPAD Arrays

The camera range currently includes six PF32 models. The PF32-Lite offers an entry-level unit, the PF32-Core is ideal for almost all TCSPC applications, then the PF-Ultra offers extreme speed for applications that require flexibility in readout modalities. All three models are available with a microlens option, offering a higher fill factor and increased sensitivity.

PF32 cameras have a 32×32 Time-Correlated Single-Photon Counting (TCSPC) pixel array, with fully digital photon counting and time stamping – meaning no analogue readout noise.

In-pixel timing electronics enable the time-tagging of incoming photons to an accuracy of 55ps. An incredible throughput of up to half a billion timestamps per second can be captured, with an IRF of down to 200ps.

The PF1D Module and Camera range
Time-Tagging SPAD Arrays

PF1D Modules and Cameras are 1D linear arrays of Time-Correlated Single-Photon Counting (TCSPC) macropixels, with fully digital photon counting and time stamping – meaning no analogue readout noise.
In-pixel timing electronics enable the time-tagging of incoming photons to an accuracy of 140ps. An incredible throughput of up to a billion timestamps per second can be captured, with an IRF of 300ps FWHM.

The PF32 OEM Module range
Time-Tagging SPAD Array Modules for Integration in Production Systems

A compact, module version of Photon Force’s ubiquitous PF32 camera is suitable for building into low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) production systems, making it ideal for systems integration and OEM applications.
This module solution allows product developers full control over the optical path, as well as simple and straightforward mechanical integration.

Photon Force Applications – Counting photons to create impact across research and industry.

Quantum

The PF32 range has the single-photon sensitivity required to enable many Quantum applications. The PF32 range has such precise timing that you can watch light as it travels. With an array of high throughput single-photon detectors, free-space QKD can deal more easily with turbulence moving the beam, quantum random number generation can output at a higher rate, and quantum imaging can be performed without scanning.

Diffuse Correlation Spectroscopy

Using the Photon Force PF32 to increase sensitivity for DCS

Diffuse Correlation Spectroscopy (DCS) is a non-invasive technique that can be used to measure blood flow in tissue. This generally involves coupling laser light from a fibre into the tissue and measuring the scattered light at a distance from the input, also using a fiber. The further away from the input, the deeper the light will have travelled and the less light emerges, which is where single-photon detection is required.

Imaging Light in Flight

Extreme speed for applications that require flexibility in readout modalities. The PF32 range has such precise timing that you can watch light as it travels. With a time resolution of 55 picoseconds, the PF32 SPAD array camera range from Photon Force can easily capture processes that occur in the nanosecond time regime.

Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging
FLIM and FRET imaging

Traditionally, Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM) and Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) imaging have used scanning systems to form an image of the sample being tested.

Photon Force’s PF32 Time-Correlated Single-Photon Counting (TCSPC) SPAD array cameras can be used to create an image with no need for scanning. In fact, users can acquire video rate FLIM in the time previously taken to collect a single static image.

Imaging through scattering media

Using time-resolved data to predict an object’s form

Seeing “through” things may sound like something from science fiction, but Photon Force technologies have been successfully used to achieve just that.

Using time-resolved data captured with the Photon Force PF32 Time-Correlated Single-Photon Counting (TCSPC) camera, researchers have been able to predict the form of an object from behind a scattering medium or through tissue.

Tracking Hidden Objects

Tracking hidden objects with the PF32 single-photon counting camera.

Out of sight but not out of mind. The Photon Force PF32 single-photon counting camera can be used to capture triple-scattered light and accurately locate hidden objects.
